Country Code, Area Codes, and Dialling Instructions Phone Books

To call a number in Mexico from another country, dial your international access code (011 for North America, 00 for most other countries), then the country code for Mexico: 52, then the two or three digit area code, and finally the seven or eight digit local number.

The country code 52 is always followed by a total of ten digits.

To call a number from within Mexico, use the 7 or 8 digit local number if you are within the same 2 or 3 digit area code. Otherwise, for long distance calls, dial 01 then the full ten digit number.

To make an international call from Mexico, the international access code is 00. For example, to call a number in the US or Canada, dial 00, country code 1, then the area code and number.

Exception to all the above: calls to mobile (cell) phones are now different. When calling one from outside Mexico, insert a "1" after the country code. When calling one long distance in Mexico, dial 045 in front, and dialling locally dial 044 in front of the area code.
